In the fast-paced world of business, keeping your team skilled and engaged is more important than ever. But with training often expensive and of dubious efficacy, what’s the alternative? West End based platform CreateLMS is rethinking the way businesses train: helping teams learn faster, retain their people, and slash unnecessary costs.

When we think of online learning, a familiar dread creeps in – visions of endless slides and uninspiring content that makes us question our life choices. But what if learning could be different? What if it could be intuitive, seamless, and – dare I say it – enjoyable?
Well, that’s certainly the case for CreateLMS, a learning management system built not just to deliver training, but to rethink the entire way we approach learning in the workplace. As businesses continue to adapt to remote work and digital transformation, the changing expectations of employees and their training also needs to keep evolving. And CreateLMS? It’s not just keeping up, it’s leading the way.
In The Beginning…
Mark Taggart, the founder, didn’t set out to revolutionise online learning from the get-go. His journey started in the world of sales, marketing, and early tech development, where he was no stranger to the challenges of training employees, clients, and even entire industries.
Working in healthcare technology, Mark gathered patient data using PalmPilots – yes, those tiny handheld devices from the pre-iPhone era. There was no internet connectivity, no universal standards for displaying media, and training doctors and nurses on how to use the technology was a logistical nightmare. The industry standard? Flying medical professionals across the world for in-person training – a process that was costly, inefficient, and difficult to scale.
Mark saw the cracks in the system and started thinking: what if training didn’t require people to be in the same room? What if it could happen on any device, in any language, with just a few simple clicks?
The Creation of CreateLMS

Fast-forward a few years, and Mark found himself in the renewable energy sector, leading sales and marketing for a Scottish wind turbine company. With a knack for improving things, it didn’t take long for him to realise that the way customer inquiries were managed could use some updating. The process was largely manual at the time but after implementing a customer relationship management solution, Mark helped rebuild customer engagement so valuable inquiries weren’t slipping through the cracks.
But once again, he noticed that successful implementation relied heavily on effective training – without proper onboarding, even the best systems couldn’t deliver their full potential. And once again, he saw an opportunity: if businesses wanted to scale, they needed a way to train people efficiently, no matter where they were.
After running and selling a patient reminder business, Mark decided he was ready for a new challenge and one question still lingered: how can we make learning easier, faster, and more engaging? With that, CreateLMS was born.
The goal was simple: build a platform where learning is flexible and intuitive, make it possible for businesses to train employees quickly and effectively, and design it so that anyone – from admins to learners – could get started in minutes, not hours. One of the biggest issues with traditional training? People weren’t sticking around. Studies showed that 60% of employees left jobs due to poor training and lack of development opportunities. The way businesses approached learning had to change – not just for efficiency, but for retention, engagement, and success.
Zero Downtime
Of course, building a learning platform in a constantly evolving tech landscape wasn’t without its challenges. The biggest hurdle? Businesses often resist change, even when it benefits them. Mark and his team had to show them that integrating learning technology wasn’t about adding complexity, it was about removing it.
That meant creating a platform with zero downtime (yes, really – CreateLMS has had no downtime since 2017), designing an interface so intuitive that a company could be up and running within 90 minutes of signing on, and proving that technology could cut training costs while increasing completion rates and engagement.
Through working with companies in healthcare, technology, and corporate training, Mark realised that the future of learning wasn’t just about digitising courses. It was about changing the way people engage with knowledge. Learning needed to be on-demand, accessible from anywhere, at any time, it had to be personalised, with paths tailored to each learner and most importantly, it had to be interactive and engaging, not simply another box-ticking exercise.
Play, Practise, Feedback

One of the key innovations that emerged from this thinking was the use of pre-interview training modules. Companies struggling with high no-show rates for job interviews started sending applicants a short training course before even speaking to them. The result? A drastic reduction in wasted time, as only genuinely interested candidates moved forward. So what’s next?
The future of learning isn’t uninspiring e-learning courses or compliance-driven training modules. It’s about play, practise, and feedback. Imagine a world where employees don’t just complete courses, but practise real-world scenarios with AI-driven simulations, engage in interactive learning experiences that feel more like games than lectures, and receive instant feedback, allowing them to improve and apply their knowledge immediately.
That’s the future CreateLMS is working towards. Because learning shouldn’t feel like a chore – it should be something people are excited to do.
