Kitchens, Laundry Rooms, Boot Rooms & more
Relocating back to Glasgow after many years away, this edition’s West End couple saw a previous Wee Kitchen advertorial in Westender and booked in for a consult with Greg. Seeing the kind of quality Shaker kitchen that would fit with their period home, and reading about the level of service delivered, swung it for these returning Glaswegians.
After our chat, I walk away thinking the main theme has been that of collaboration. Between the client, Greg, and the fitting team, the relationships built seem genuine and warm. That ethos comes from Greg and trickles down. A genuine craftsman with a background in cabinetry, Greg cares. And that’s The Wee Kitchen Shop’s secret sauce.
With ideas for a peninsular unit the client went through about seven iterations before Greg recommended an oversized island unit, and the couple couldn’t be happier with the result. Incorporating a BORA downdraught hood negating the need for an eyeline blocking extractor hood, the Silestone Eternal Staturuario covered island is a beautiful and functional statement in the lofty space.
Another hit is the Quooker Rose Copper Flex tap. It’s a thing of beauty, but with hot water on tap (sorry) the family wonder how they ever put up with a kettle before.
The solid wood Shaker custom colour cabinetry reaches new highs with the PIR LED lit full-height pantry, however. As the client says, ‘It should come with it’s own hero theme music’! Really it’s more of a full breakfast larder with the fresh bread loaves, toaster and accompaniments all to hand.
But it’s the new communal aspect of this kitchen that really gets the thumbs up – social time with family and friends for these returning Westenders is everything.
