Maggie’s Culture Crawl

Cancer support charity Maggie’s is inviting you to see your city in a whole new light while raising vital funds to help people living with cancer.

Maggie’s Culture Crawl – a 10km sponsored walk taking in iconic and cultural highlights – will take place in Glasgow on the 16th of September

“Culture Crawl is good fun – it’s a great laugh, but the best bit is that you can help raise money to make sure people with cancer get the support they need.” Stephen

In January 2020, Stephen received a call from the oncologist to say he was in the early stages of breast cancer. This was the first of three separate cancer diagnoses he received within a year. His wife had recently died and Stephen didn’t know how he would cope on his own. Maggie’s was there for him and he felt that it was like a second family. It was somewhere he felt understood and listened to.

Stephen decided to take part in Culture Crawl with his two sisters and niece as a way to give something back.

Everyone who raises money will be making sure that people with cancer, as well as their family and friends, get the support they need.

Previous ‘Culture Crawlers’ have enjoyed a route stopping by at iconic landmarks such as Kelvingrove Museum, Kibble Palace, Tennent’s Brewery, The Science Centre, The Hunterian, Scotland Street School Museum, with the added charm of experiencing them at night time, when the doors are usually closed.

Maggie’s Glasgow Centre Head Kerry Craig said: “We are delighted to once more be welcoming people to take part in our Culture Crawl event.

“It has always been a highlight of the year with a fantastic warm, friendly and fun atmosphere, but more importantly, as we rely almost entirely on voluntary donations, the funds raised will hugely help us to support people living with cancer.

“Cancer is possibly the most difficult experience of a person’s life and for many people the pandemic has made living with cancer even harder, meaning our professional support is needed now more than ever before.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who takes part.”

There are several night walk events taking part across the UK in 2022. Please visit our website at https://www.maggies.org/get-involved/find-event/events/maggies-culture-crawl-glasgow/ to find out more.
