Westender @ Caffe Parma

Caffe Parma has had a facelift — but don’t worry, the food is just as good as you remember. Known for its warm welcome, beautiful setting, casual atmosphere, and varied menu, Caffe Parma has become the go-to dinner spot for many of Hyndland’s residents.

In November 2025, the much-loved Italian closed its doors for refurbishments and came back just in time for the festive period with a glow-up. But, most importantly, has the quality that its customers have come to know and love stayed consistent?

New Look, Same Great Food

The answer, thankfully, is yes. On a dark and dreary Friday, a friend and I headed along to Caffe Parma to check out the new furnishings and indulge in an Italian feast — and we were not disappointed. At 7:30 pm, the place was abuzz with families, couples, and friends enjoying an evening of good food and a few drinks (we’re in Glasgow, after all), making stepping through the door on a cold evening feel like a warm embrace.

We sipped on a couple of sweet yet tart passionfruit margaritas while waiting for our first course: the Gamberoni. Whole king prawns served in chilli and garlic dressing, with slow-cooked tomatoes and fresh basil. I highly recommend ordering a side of focaccia with this dish, as you won’t want a drop of that unctuous chilli and garlic sauce to go to waste once you’ve devoured the soft, sweet, and juicy prawns.

The Main Event

Moving on to the main event, while there were around 10 different dishes I was torn between, I ended up landing on the Mezze Maniche con Burrata. A delicious blend of San Marzano sugo flavoured with rich and spicy n’duja, topped with fresh and creamy burrata. The dish is completed, of course, with parmesan and freshly cracked black pepper at your table — something you must, in my opinion, always say yes to.

The sweetness of the tomatoes blended seamlessly with the salty, chilli hit from the n’duja, tempered perfectly by the creamy burrata on top. Not a mouthful went to waste.

For me, summer can’t come quick enough so I can sit on that gorgeous terrace overlooking the tennis court — a glass of wine in hand and a plate of Gamberoni heading my way.
