On the busy streets of Great Western Road lies a haven of creativity known to many as One Mór Tune. Fonn Mór opens its doors every Thursday evening welcoming Glasgow’s finest to take to the stage in an open mic night. But there’s more than just live music on offer—there’s a bit of everything for everyone—you can expect to hear comedy, poetry, and even a cappella renditions.
With Fridays and Saturdays at the venue packed full of punters, Michelle Elii, who hosts the event, and Caitlin Findlay, the manager at Fonn Mór, thought another night dedicated to entertainment was just what the West End needed…and they were right.
You can find Michelle on the piano every week. Self-taught, she started her career working as a support act and has now turned her passion to entertain into an opportunity for others, creating events across Glasgow to liven up the nightlife and give people a chance to share their talents.
After only running for six months, the rota has filled up with regular acts like young up and comer Jamie McTear, who’s only been performing for under a year, but holds gigs in Glasgow city centre venues Browns and The Anchor Line. As well as soloists, you’ll witness harmonious duos with powerhouse vocals and complimentary keys.
From piano to guitar to saxophone. From good old classics to originals, Paint It Black by The Rolling Stones to I Want a Little Sugar in My Bowl by Nina Simone, expect a bit of everything.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the buzz of live music and a room filled with those who love to entertain and who love to be entertained. People pop in every Thursday and connect through music, sharing in the joy of live performance, whether it’s the first time they’ve met or whether they’re regulars.
One Mór Tune at Fonn Mór is the perfect spot for a date night or get together with friends where you could be sipping your drink listening to the singer on stage and the next thing you know the man at the table next to you grabs his guitar and starts strumming along—before you know it, you’re right in the middle of an electrifying jam session.
There truly is no better way to enjoy that Thursday pint or large glass of Pinot.
So why not order a drink, sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
And if you happen to find yourself in the city centre on Friday, Corinthian will be hosting a music filled night with their very own version of One Mór Tune.
