… at The Grosvenor Picture Theatre

What do The Glasgow Distillery and The Grosvenor Picture Theatre have in common? They love classics and have really good taste. That’s why, on Friday 10th of July, they have teamed up for a new run of themed Tasting Screenings.
And what could be better than sitting back in this nostalgic picture theatre, watching a cult classic and sipping on a classic cocktail?
Inspiration
But the tasting events have more to them then grabbing a cocktail and taking your seat. The films and cocktails have been curated – carefully combining classic films with specifically designed cocktails and snacks. The screenings are designed in such a way that the audiences are very much immersed in the stories on screen, with drinks and tasting samples served at key points throughout the experience.
This isn’t the first time The Glasgow Distillery and The Grosvenor Picture Theatre have run such an event. The upcoming series of Tasting Screenings comes after the recent Skyfall Tasting Experience. This time around it’s The Godfather, which will feature The Glasgow Distillery’s twist on the classic Godfather cocktail. Cinema goers will also sample other tasters throughout the evening, inspired by the classic film.
Our West End Cinema

The Grosvenor, as it’s more commonly known, is actually Glasgow’s oldest cinema opening in 1921. Initially, the cinema only had one large screen, but after remodelling in the 1980s, two screens were created allowing for a variety of films to be shown at the same time. Post-pandemic, a further refurbishment led to the boutique cinema we now love – intimate, stylish and comfortable. A perfect setting for a Sip-Along and Tasting event.
Enter The Glasgow Distillery. The award winning distillers only started production of their first single malt, 1770 in 2015. By 2020 they had been named Distillery of the Year at the Scottish Whisky Awards. Their production of unpeated, peated and triple-distilled whisky led to innovative, exciting cocktail combinations, perfect for a night in a nostalgic cinema with a classic film on the silver screen.
Storytelling
Two Glasgow institutions with one shared passion for storytelling and memorable experiences.
Joel Beattie, General Manager of The Grosvenor Picture House says ‘These screenings are all about creating memorable experiences around films people already love. The response to Skyfall was fantastic and showed there’s a real appetite for something a little different. Working alongside The Glasgow Distillery allows us to bring another layer to the experience, and we’re looking forward to welcoming audiences back for more cult-classic films, great cocktails and a unique night out in Glasgow.‘

And if you’re not going to be around in July, fear not, further screenings are already planned for later in the year.
