Fancy an Easter egg trail you don’t have to organise? Head to The Tenement House in Garnethill for a fun egg hunt, not weather dependant! But if the kids can get those waterproofs on (April showers and all that) a ‘hop’ and a jump over to the gorgeous Mugdock Country Park in Milngavie will keep the kids happy for hours. With details still to be confirmed at time of writing, Mugdock year on year invests in ensuring our children are discovering nature, not only at Easter but the whole year round. Ranger led visits are filled with education and fun. The theatre at Mugdock and beautiful little cinema have packed schedules the whole year through. Check Mugdock’s website and social media for their Egg-cellent Easter events.

The revamp of The Pavilion Theatre’s programme over the past couple of years has brought this gorgeous theatre alive. But it’s not only Scottish comedy or old school music hall acts but also ‘an evening with’ format.
And in April, there is a fantastic range of guests visiting the Renfield St stage. In April State of the Nation: An Evening with Akala, sees social commentator, historian, MOBO winner and best-selling author Akala take to the stage. Is Britain still a nation of inequality, is it still ‘haunted’by its colonial legacy and where do we go from here? Insightful, intelligent discussion in an evening sure to make you leave the theatre with more questions than you went in with. Also in April, the legend that is Gregor Fisher treads the Pavilion boards, talking about his glittering career.
His back catalogue seems to tick every TV memory for us – With Naked Video, Rab C Nesbitt and Love Actually, Gregor’s comedic gift has littered Scottish Comedy for decades. One not to miss. Finally, one of the best wildlife photographers in the world, Hamza Yassin. This self-effacing wildlife presenter and photographer takes us on a journey around the world in his show My Life Behind the Lens, with stories and images from all over the globe. Hamza’s mission to engage his audience in the joy of mother nature promises to be an uplifting evening for all.

Spring seems to be jam-packed with concert seasons. The Scottish Chamber Orchestra (SCO), The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (SSO) and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra are all presenting top-notch programmes.

Look out for Tchaikovsky, Mendelsohn and Debussy in March from the SSO. With Beethoven, Mozart and Dvorjak on the SCO’s programme, is there anyone left to play by the RSNO? Well yes. For Gershwin, Rachmaninov and Holst will emanate from The Royal Concert Hall. It really does fill you with pride, the wealth of classical orchestras we have here in Scotland; and the regular concert series offered in Glasgow. Maestro, please…
