Big Nights Out at the Bandstand returns to Kelvingrove in June.  After its inaugural success in 2025, the series of concerts this year sees some utter legends take to the stage.  On the programme are iconic bands including The Damned, Cast and Level 42. The park is set to be a karaoke haven as frontman Mark King belts out songs including Leaving Me Now, Lessons in Love and Running in the Family.  If you can, grab some tickets for one of these feel-good concerts under, fingers crossed, some early summer blue skies.

If ever there was a pop-art exhibition that promised to be constantly full, it’s the Barbie Exhibition set to show at Kelvingrove starting in June.

The new exhibition looks at the history and design of the world’s most famous doll. And isn’t she looking well for 65? Featuring over 250 objects, from the very beginning to the present day, the exhibition showcases fashion, architecture, furniture as well as the many faces of Barbie and friends. I wonder if my Barbie Dreamhouse from ’81 will be featured?  This is a ticketed event and has an entrance fee.

Scotland’s Gardens Scheme Open Gardens have events all over the area and beyond.  The organisation opens an incredible selection of gardens across Scotland to raise money for charity. It’s a chance to see gardens at their most abundant, in full bloom and dream of what could be. Take a trip down the Firth of Clyde to Geilston Garden in Cardross.  With a walled garden, kitchen garden and woodland walks, the visit will make for a lovely day out.

Further along the Firth in Rhu is beautiful Glenarn.  This beautiful house and surroundings make for an enchanting day out. Famed for its rhododendrons, you might want to visit a little earlier in the year, but there is still plenty to see in the mature trees and paths to wander.  Take a look at Scotland’s Gardens Scheme Open Gardens website for the hundreds of gardens open throughout the summer in aid of charity.
