New Art Exhibition by Jo Sunshine
Skypark. Not a destination that springs to mind when discussing art. Yet running from now until April, the business destination will see its walls transformed. Bringing her ‘shining” art to the Skypark donated art gallery is Artist Jo Sunshine. Jo, who is partially sighted, finds inspiration in nature, in animals, in people. With exhibits in galleries around Glasgow, her work is also in private collections worldwide.
Inspiration
Jo’s lifelong love of art changed after an accident. She says ‘I have always been an artist but after an accident eight years ago left me with partial sight, I began to draw in neon crayon by tuning into colour. Neon crayon has its own unique quality, and a distinctive bright colour range that I can see.’
Jo says of the exhibition ‘I am inspired by everything in life and compelled to draw two pictures every day. The collection, amongst others, will feature Branston Pickle, Glasgow University from a distance, Giraffe Love, Waverley passing the Armadillo on the Clyde, Owl in a Tree and Robert Burns Portrait. Unframed art work will be available to buy from £25. I can also take commissions for original work by arrangement.
Art at Work
The donated gallery at Skypark opened in 2011. It’s a space where people can go about their working day brightened by the positivity of the art. Skypark’s Strategic Lettings Advisor, Angela Higgins of Resonance Capital adds: ‘Jo Sunshine is an inspiration, and we are thrilled to have her work “shining” in our donated gallery. As a supporter of the Glasgow arts scene, we offer artists the chance to show their work to the public beyond traditional art galleries. We encourage other artists to get in contact with their ideas.’
With Skypark calling for more artists to exhibit their work in the donated gallery space, art at work looks to have as bright a future as Jo’s exhibition!
