A guide to the new food spots in Glasgow West

Kochchi

One of the best things about a city like Glasgow is there is always something new to discover, whether it’s a new area, bar, independent shop, or gallery. And of course, there is always new food to be discovered. In the West End alone, we have seen a surge in new foodie spots from wine bars to sandwich shops. So, here are our top picks…

Rocco’s

Who doesn’t love a bit of Italian-American dining? Since opening in November 2025, Rocco’s has received glowing reviews — and it’s not hard to see why. With their low lighting, flowing wine, and old-school Italian-American menu, it’s the perfect spot for a date night, catch-up with friends, or if you just fancy a taste of New York over pizza and cocktails.

Menu highlights include their New York sharing-style pizzas (I recommend the Brooklyn Heat, topped with pepperoni, hot honey, red sauce, mozzarella and parmigiano), NYC Meatballs, and their signature Rocco’s Alla Vodka – mezze maniche alla vodka, baked with n’duja and mozzarella, and topped with burrata.

Focaccia by PULP

Having already built a strong following as a top-quality brunch spot, the team behind PULP have taken on a new venture into the world of sandwiches. Located on Bank Street, Focaccia by PULP offers, as you probably guessed, focaccia sandwiches — along with a range of cakes, bakes and coffees.

The perfect pit-stop after a West End wander, the sandwiches are made using high-quality ingredients on beautifully bubbly housemade focaccia. Options range from the Pulp Club, filled with fire-roasted pepper and aubergine pulp, avocado, salsa verde, feta cheese and rocket, to the highly popular Mortadella, filled with mortadella, sun blush tomato, stracciatella, crushed pistachios, rocket and a touch of extra virgin olive oil.

MOOTZ General Store
New Food Spots Glasgow

Keeping with the sandwich theme is Mootz General Store, which specialises in fresh schiacciata (Tuscan flatbread) sandwiches. Originally located in Stockbridge, Edinburgh, the team branched out to Glasgow in autumn 2025 and have quickly become a go-to lunch spot for locals.

As well as regularly changing specials, Mootz’s menu features 10 different filling options to suit every sandwich lover — including vegan and veggie options. Think classics like a Reuben or Cubano, along with other delights like the Huckleberry – a mix of mortadella, glazed ham and porchetta with tomato carpaccio, mozzarella, chimichurri and chilli oil.

The Caravan Shop
New Food Spots Glasgow

If there is one thing I am happy to see, it’s the influx of wine bars to Glasgow’s West End. While there are craft beer bars a-plenty, it can be difficult to find a wine bar that offers the same for us wine drinkers. Enter The Caravan Shop – an intimate wine bar and bottle shop from the team behind the ever-popular Brett Restaurant.

While the upstairs wine bar is walk-in only, offering a light and airy space for sampling their extensive range of wines and snacking plates, downstairs, reservations for the Cellar can be made. The Cellar is a little darker, slower and built for wine, conversation and snacks late into the night. Open only on Fridays and Saturdays, wine can be ordered by the glass, bottle or flight, and paired with The Caravan Shop’s food menu.

Festa

What was once the much-loved pasta joint Te Seba has been reinvented after the owner and chef Sebo decided to take a step back from kitchen service. The rest of the family have stuck around though, transforming the space into a no-frills wine and snack bar. With laid-back tunes and plenty of window seats for people-watching, it’s the perfect spot to relax with some wine and snacks. It’s picky tea, elevated.

With a carefully curated selection of sparkling, red, white and rosé wines to choose from, you can sit back with a crisp glass and indulge in snacks like olives, cheese plates, prawn cocktail, thinly sliced smoked beef, or – if it’s more your thing – a portion of fries topped with salty feta, fresh parsley and a wedge of lemon.

ONE’S TO WATCH…

Kochchi

Kochchi opened its doors at the end of January, bringing award-winning Sri Lankan food to Ruthven Lane. We’ll be heading there very soon — stay tuned for our review in the next edition to hear our verdict.

Bistro Eleven Fifty Five

When The Gannet team announced they were closing their doors at the end of 2025, there was a sense of shock among the Glasgow community. Thankfully, those doors won’t be shut for long. While The Gannet’s time has ended, the team behind it — including Head Chef and Director Peter McKenna — are reinventing the space with a new concept. Renamed Bistro Eleven Fifty Five, we can’t wait to see what this incredible team do next.

PG Street Food
New Food Spots Glasgow

Yes, that’s right — Professor Green is set to launch his own street food shop on Byres Road. While details aren’t confirmed, the menu is set to offer “Fast Food with a PG Twist.” A loose opening date was set for mid-February, so we’ll see what lies in store in the coming months. You can follow @pgfastfooduk for updates.
