New Housing Glasgow West

It’s an incredibly hard decision. You’re happy in the West End; you have everything you need right on your doorstep. But the kids are here now. Or you’re a couple who would love more outside space. You love your flat. But you’d love a house.
Does this mean it’s time for a move to the suburbs? Well, no – not necessarily.
Instead, it could mean a 15-minute walk along the revitalised Forth and Clyde canal, to Maltings Wynd, Dundashill.
Dundashill

Dundashill is a new community, a new neighbourhood, based near Port Dundas. Phase two of the project, Maltings Wynd is designed by regeneration specialists Igloo. Gary Watt, Development Director, is passionate about the project. The company stay loyal to the themes core to the Igloo ethos: people, planet, place.
Gary explains ‘We really have community at the centre of what we do at Maltings Wynd. Outdoor space is so important, spaces designed for people to get to know each other, neighbours chewing the fat in the shared Sunken Garden. Yet still ensuring there are private spaces, roof terraces, to kick back.’
Listening to Gary, it’s clear this is more than another build. Igloo are building a new community, one that they want to thrive with the existing amenities already on the doorstep.
It sounds like the best of both worlds. Homes, with individual gardens, communal spaces, yet five minutes from watersports, skateparks and cafes in this new neighbourhood at Port Dundas, , across the new bridge from the City Centre. And a peaceful cycle along the canal to the West End.
Sustainable Living

There is also the small matter of ethical, sustainable building. The space overlooking the city and canal at Dundashill has been planned with biodiversity as a key element, with planting aimed at attracting wildlife. In return, gardens flourishing.
And with the outside of the development newly defining urban living, the contemporary style of the homes has been beautifully curated. Gary says ‘We commissioned a choice of bespoke designs from award winning Glasgow based practices Stallan Brand and Ann Nisbet Studio; the homes exemplify crafted architecture offering a range of open plan layouts, garden spaces and views.’
But this doesn’t mean style over substance. The three and four-bedroom homes are contemporary low carbon homes. EPC ‘A’ energy efficiency, sustainable homes are key to the build.
When complete, Dundashill will be a 600-home community. At Maltings Wynd, why not consider this new alternative to a move to suburbia?
A chance, as Gary says, ‘to live sustainably, healthily, and happily.’
