Finnieston’s latest addition, Bar Dani, has been creating a buzz since it opened its doors at the beginning of June, and for good reason.

The Basque-inspired wine bar comes from the team behind Kelvingrove Cafe, offering pinxtos, dishes cooked over an asador grill and of course, an excellent wine selection.
Inspired by the pintxo bars and cider houses of the Basque Country, Dani features extensive bar seating, communal tables and an open kitchen, creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
The Menu
The menu, designed to be shared, features an array of Spanish style dishes and ingredients, from a classic Tortilla, Tomato Salad and Ganbara-style mushrooms. If you’re looking for something classic, there is also the option of Bavette steak frites with ‘dani sauce’.

Some big hitters for me included Sobrasada toast with Guindilla pepper and hot honey, and the smoked white bean, charred greens and Sidiazabal cheese. The highlight of the meal for me though were the Clams & Txistorra, a special kind of Spanish chorizo. The dish was incredibly flavoursome, and I could have drank the sauce with a spoon (I settled for mopping it up with plenty of bread though).

Another unique dish is the Bifana, a Portuguese sandwich consisting of thin slices of pork, served on soft rolls with mustard and piri piri sauce. Such a unique dish that I highly recommend trying. There are also daily changing specials on the menu, including special cuts of beef and whole grilled fish of the day.
I am very happy with this exciting addition to the Finnieston strip, and I can’t wait to return to sample more of chef Robbie Smith’s incredible cooking.
