Raise Your Hands for Tappy Toes: The Joyful Jive Your Little Ones Will Love!

Looking for toddler classes in Glasgow West End? Then it’s time for Tappy Toes!
Laughter and music spill out of Hyndland community centre on Novar Drive every Monday morning. Step inside, and the room pulses with life: tiny feet pattering on the wooden floor, rainbow-coloured scarves twirling through the air, children bouncing with uncontainable delight, and the kind of energy only the under-fives—and perhaps a well-caffeinated parent or grandparent—can muster. The walls practically hum with the upbeat tunes of children’s classics, while the grown-ups cheer them on from the sidelines. It’s a reminder that joy doesn’t always come in grand packages. Sometimes, it comes in the form of a wobbly toddler doing their very best star jump!
Tappy Toes is an award-winning dance and movement class that’s turning West End wee ones into confident, rhythm-loving dynamos. It’s a place where chaos meets choreography, and giggles are just as important as getting the steps right. But it’s not just about cuteness (though there’s plenty of that). At its core, it’s a cleverly designed programme that nurtures early development through movement, music, and creative play. Think of it as pre-school meets mini-Broadway—with tambourines. The children might be chasing bubbles, stretching like cats, or tiptoeing through imaginary jungles, but behind all the fun lies a framework grounded in early childhood development.
One Dance Step at a Time
Leading the dance charge is the ever-smiling Lynne Devine, a qualified childhood practitioner with a flair for fun and a background in professional ice skating (yes, really). With her warm Glaswegian charm and seemingly infinite energy, Lynne draws every child (and adult) into the world of Tappy Toes like it’s the most exciting place in the West End!
The mission at Tappy Toes is building skills for life, one dance step at a time. “Our classes are lively, creative, and full of joy! We begin with a warm-up, followed by themed dances, action songs, and imaginative movement activities using props such as scarves, pom-poms, or musical instruments,” says Lynne. “Classes are always age-appropriate and follow a consistent routine to help little ones feel secure, while also introducing new dances and songs to keep things fresh and exciting.”
Lynne is passionate about the benefits of dance for toddlers and young children, which go far beyond glittery costumes and catchy tunes. That’s why she packs every 30-minute session with purpose. “Dance helps develop coordination, balance, and fine motor skills, while also boosting cognitive development through pattern recognition and rhythm,” she explains. “Socially, it encourages interaction and cooperation with peers…and it’s just a lot of fun, which is so important for wee ones.”
Morning Sparkle
Tappy Toes was originally founded in Hertfordshire, but the Glasgow West franchise has taken off in recent years and it’s now a firm favourite among local parents (and not just because it tires the kids out before lunchtime!) It’s not just a class, but a community of tiny dancers and big-hearted grown-ups, all moving to the same joyful beat. So, if your mornings in the West End could use a little sparkle, get your little one’s toes tapping down to Hyndland. Trust me, those Monday blues don’t stand a chance!
Classes run weekly during term time but must be booked in advance to ensure a calm, safe, and well-organised experience. They also offer nursery sessions and parties, and there’s no formal dress code—comfort is key. Parents and grandparents are expected to stay, and encouraged to join in, making it a shared experience full of smiles!
