Five of the Best…Brunch Spots

Breakfast at lunchtime, a perfect meal to follow a weekend lie-in. But where are our top brunch spots in Glasgow West End ?

by Amy Glasgow

We’re extremely lucky in Glasgow that in the west end alone, there are so many incredible eateries to choose from. So much so that actually choosing where to dine can be quite overwhelming. Which ones are good? Which ones will let you down? I’m here to help! Each month, I’ll bring you my top five spots for a specific category or type of cuisine. Today we’re talking Brunch. Where can you find the best breakfast food in the west end? Here are my top picks…

The Brunch Club

THE BRUNCH CLUB

Looking for a Boozy Brunch spot for the weekend? Look no further than The Brunch Club on Old Dumbarton Road. This ever popular spot serves up a whole host of brunch options, from a classic cooked breakfast to French toast, tacos to breakfast burritos. Their boozy brunch is available all day every day and includes one main dish, one Bellini or mimosa and two cocktails of your choice, all for just £30 per person.

PARTICK DUCK CLUB

Probably one of the few spots in Glasgow you can grab breakfast from 9am to 9pm, Partick Duck Club has been offering quality and unique breakfast dishes since it first opened its doors. There are THREE different avocado on toast options for the millennials among us, or if you are looking for something a bit heartier, why not try their BBQ shredded duck leg and beef dripping hash brown, with fried egg, nduja cabbage and hollandaise.

SERENDIPITY WEST

This little cafe on Great Western Road has been making waves since it first opened its doors just over a year ago and it is not hard to see why. Rather than your standard Morton roll, the breakfast rolls at Serendipity are served inside deliciously flaky, buttery home made croissant rolls for extra indulgence. In the mood for something sweet? I highly recommend sampling their brioche Hong Kong style French toast.

KUDOS

Kudos

Walk or drive past Kudos on any given weekend and you will most likely see a crowd of hungry punters waiting to get in. Like Serendipity, Kudos also boasts delicious croissant rolls, filled with Italian sausage, bacon, cheese and spicy ketchup. I also highly recommend their Turkish Eggs – perfectly garlicky yoghurt, soft poached eggs and a warming drizzle of chilli oil to finish. Naturally served with thick slices of sourdough for scooping up all that goodness.

LAGOM

Another relative newby to the Glasgow brunch scene, Lagom specialises in delicious brunch bowls, sandwiches and regularly changing home made cakes and bakes. Full of fresh flavours and bright colours, the menu is varied enough to suit every diner, whether you are in the mood for something light like coconut milk porridge or a simple fruit platter, or something more substantial like Dutch pancakes or a full breakfast.
