There was a time that art was NOT for the masses. Walking into an art gallery took a certain swagger and a fair bit of confidence. ‘Do I look like I’m an art lover?’ Thankfully, those days are gone and those of us who may not fit the mould, but who really do enjoy art? Well, there are galleries out there for us.
This evolution is in no small part due to trailblazers of the art industry, Clarendon Fine Art. With over 20 years of experience, Clarendon are known for making art accessible to all. Now, with over 90 galleries across the UK and further afield, their latest gallery has opened in Royal Exchange Square. And with such an exclusive address, what treasures of the art world can we hope to acquire?
World-Class Contemporary Art

The Gallery opened on Thursday 21st August with a dazzling drinks reception. Over 400 art lovers attended the event to get a taster of what Glasgow’s newest gallery will offer. The Gallery space is truly stunning, with intimate corners for reflection and contemplation of wall art blending beautifully with open, sympathetically lit sculptures. Gallery Manager Claire Ballantyne and Art Consultants Katie Mills and Ruth Millar were on hand sharing their expertise with visitors.
Artists showcasing their talents at Clarendon include the Connor Brothers, Mr Brainwash, Danielle O’Connor Akiyama, Philip Gray and Fabian Perez. The collections really did have something for everyone: from vivid landscapes with energetic strokes bringing the canvas to life, to elegant bronze sculptures, cool and mesmerising. Whether your artistic eye longs for animals, seascapes, pop art, or prints of classics (some stunning L.S. Lowry prints adorned a very popular corner), Clarendon Fine Art seems to have catered for all.

Gallery Manager Claire Ballantyne said: ‘We are thrilled to bring the Clarendon Fine Art experience to Glasgow, and it was wonderful to connect with so many people on our launch night. The city’s vibrant culture and deep appreciation for the arts make it the perfect home for our diverse collection of originals, limited editions and sculptures by some of the world’s most exciting emerging talents and renowned modern masters.’
Helen Swaby, Founder and CEO of Clarendon Fine Art, reflected on her vision for the new gallery, adding: ‘Our mission has always been to make fine art accessible as well as inspiring. With this breathtaking new space in Glasgow, we look forward to bringing people closer to the world of modern and contemporary art and forging new connections within the city’s creative community.’
