by Amy Glasgow @glasgowdiet

We’re extremely lucky in Glasgow that in the west end alone, there are so many incredible bars and eateries to choose from. So much so that actually choosing where to go can be quite overwhelming. Which ones are good? Which ones will let you down? I’m here to help! Each month, I’ll bring you my top five spots for a specific category or type of cuisine. Today we’re talking dog friendly. Luckily, so many of Glasgow’s bars, cafes and restaurants are dog friendly, but which ones are the best? Here are our top picks...

THE DRAKE

If you’re looking for the perfect spot to cosy up by the fire with your pup while you indulge in some quality pub grub? The Drake is definitely your go-to. It’s perfect for relaxing after a city stroll, with cosy interiors and a log fire. The Drake has a great drinks list of wines, draft beers and cocktails to unwind with. The staff are always thrilled to see your four-legged friends, with treats a-plenty on offer. They’ll be spoiled rotten while you enjoy your pint in peace.

PORTER & RYE

This might surprise you, but one of the west end’s best steak houses (in my humble opinion) is also dog friendly. So if you have the kind of dog that simply cannot be left at home, or maybe you just love taking your furry friend with you wherever you go, and you still want to enjoy an indulgent meal with a quality glass of wine, Porter & Rye has you covered. Besides, who better to finish off your steak scraps?

INN DEEP

If there is one spot in the west end of Glasgow that screams dog friendly, it’s Inn Deep. Located on the banks of the river Kelvin, this is the go-to spot to go for a drink with your pooch post-walk. While in the summer the doors are swung open so dogs can sniff and greet passers-by, it is just as cosy on a winter evening, with plenty of unique craft beers on tap, and now serving up epic pizzas from Sub Rosa.

STRAVAIGIN
Dog Friendly Glasgow West

Step into Stravaigin’s pub pretty much any day of the week, and you are more than likely to find plenty of local pampered pups enjoying a day out with their humans in front of the roaring fire. This is one of my favourite spots in the festive season, with a beautiful Christmas décor that feels simple but stunning. Enjoy a Sunday roast, a glass of red and maybe a wee snack on the side for your dog. Be aware – your dog will be treated like the celebrity they are and papped by the staff for their social media!

GAEL & GRAIN

Four-legged friends are always welcome at Gael & Grain, so much so they even offer a special dog friendly menu. While you indulge in their Scottish classics, your dog can indulge in their own meal of quality chicken or fish, rice or pasta and seasonal vegetables. Using the best ingredients, your pet will get star treatment here – they even offer different size of meals and mix and match options depending on the size and preference of your dog. Talk about next level service!
