We Love Lunch is drawing back the curtain for an afternoon at the musicals.

Specialist charity Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland) is treating ladies to their annual fundraising Lunch ‘We Love Lunch’. The event is at the Glasgow Hilton on Sunday 8th October.

SBH Scotland, a charitable organisation created by parents for parents and their children, was founded in 1965 by a small group of enthusiastic parents who each had a child with spina bifida. In order to address the needs of their children who had varying degrees of disability, it was absolutely paramount that a national organisation should be formed to speak with one voice and to advocate for those needs from a perspective of personal knowledge and understanding.

With this at the core of everything the charity does, We Love Lunch is returning for its 16th year becoming a must attend event for the ladies of Glasgow and tickets are on sale now.

16 Years of Fundraising and Fun

From the first lunch held in St Andrews with 100 women, to a live virtual Sunday Night Social during COVID-19, this favourable event has been running consistently after Clare Cogan Turner, head of marketing and communications, thought up the idea 16 years ago. As the organisation has grown over the years, this day out has become a memorable event.

Back by popular demand, the afternoon of fizz, fun and games will be hosted by popular Glasgow entertainer and radio presenter Edward Reid who has been involved with SBH long before his time on Britain’s Got Talent and remains a much-loved performer among the ladies every year. But it doesn’t stop there, GPRO will also be performing, and Gina McKie will add her talent and sparkle to the annual event hosting the auction.

After the success of last year’s 80s inspired theme, this year guests are being asked to have jazz hands at the ready as SBH Scotland’s own Greatest Showman, Edward Reid, and his guests take you to an unforgettable afternoon at the musicals.

In addition, the entertainment will be complemented by a variety of fundraising games and auctions with prizes ranging from concert packages to a diamond bracelets worth thousands of pounds.

And All for a Great Cause

Over 350 guests join in annually and put the fun into fundraising. But, at the heart of this event all guests know that their donations go directly towards SBH Scotland’s vital support for families in Glasgow and across the country.

Deborah Roe, fundraising director at SBH Scotland said: “This year we have to raise £1.5 million to provide a dedicated service for children, young people and adults affected by the life long, complex disabilities of spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. As the cost of living crisis worsens, our families rely on us more for financial information, personal support and counselling. We rely on fundraising to continue and are so grateful to the lovely ladies who join us every year to make this glittering event a fundraising triumph.
