There’s been reports of supernatural goings on on Clydeside. It’s a phenomenon locals have dubbed GlasGHOST and the eerie experiences felt are set to come to a head from Oct 24th– 26th. What? At Halloween? Head to the SEC for some fantastic thrills and spills at Glasgow’s new Halloween Spooktacular. There’s a terrifying ghost train, a harrowing haunted house, a ghoulish graveyard plus so much more. Trick or treating has never been so much fun.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween without…GLASGLOW! The annual scarefest returns to the Botanic Gardens this October. There’s a touch of nostalgia to the proceedings this year, in line with Glasgow celebrating its 850th birthday. GlasGlow will endeavour to get visitors smiling again, after all GLASGOW’S MILES BETTER! And that’s the theme. Way before a smiling emoji, the Weege had Mr Happy, celebrating the people of Glasgow. Can GlasGlow get us smiling again? Of course it can! When it comes to events in Glasgow this October Glasgow’s Miles Better.

The Stand has been part of the fabric of Woodlands for 25 years. This September it will find its new home round the corner at The Landsdowne Church. Such memories of the club’s time in Woodlands, where so many famous comedians graced its boards. But with a move to the larger venue, there’s more space for the audience to have those huge belly laughs we associate with the venue. With the same incredible level of top-notch comedy, what can we hope to see in this new era for The Stand? Well, for a start the utterly hilarious Stephen Bailey brings his sell out show new show Tart to The Stand stage this Oct. Gossip is Stephen’s middle name and if he isn’t waxing lyrically about his love for TVs Ben Shepherd, he’ll be giving the audience the goss from the girlies WhatsApp chat. Tart seems an apt title.
Or what about Rachel Galvo who is an incredibly sh**e feminist? That’s not my opinion, it’s the name of her show! Rachel relays how her lack of female solidarity harks back to an all-girl catholic school run by nuns. So, she can’t really be blamed for her lack of feminist ideology? A fantastically funny comic.
And there is so much more. With a new home, yes, we’ll miss the sticky floor of the old stand, but with a spacious separate bar, at least we have space for a giggle.

RSNO open their season with Gustav Mahler’s seventh Symphony, a journey through fairy kingdoms and alpine storms so it’s bound to be a bit noisy. Add to that that the recital also includes Oliver Knussen’s Flourish with Fireworks and it’s clear that the RSNO are starting their season with a bang!
Towards the end of October and the company do what they do so well: create excitement around classical music for children. Over the weekend before Halloween take a wander through Fright at the Museum, a classically creepy concert where animals and dinosaurs may come to life. The RSNOs Children’s Chorus will also be taking part, so don’t miss it. And on Halloween itself, who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters in Concert, that’s who! With the original (and best in my opinion) movie on the big screen, listen to the accompanying score, incidental music and big set pieces, live with the RSNO.
