Susie and Michael wondered how Greg would react when they turned up at his wee Broomhill kitchen shop with a colourful tile and mid-century ceramic jug. When Greg enthused about the colour and design detail they could incorporate from their items into their Hyndland kitchen, they were reassured they had made the correct choice appointing Greg and The Wee Kitchen Shop.
‘Initially I’d imagined a white modern kitchen to lighten the space,’ confesses Susie. ‘But seeing my love for colour and mid-century style, Greg convinced me losing the old heavy wall cupboards and opting for open shelving instead would work – and it does!’
With a self-confessed love of the set design on 60s drama “Mad Men”, Susie and Michael worked with Greg to create a functional space that nods to the fun style the couple enjoy. ‘Greg suggested improvements to our tired and badly designed old kitchen, from getting rid of the bulky freestanding fridge freezer to a streamlined built in double fridge space, to moving the sink from the window and installing a window seat with secret storage.’
With sustainability important, bamboo shelving was commissioned from George the kitchen fitter and warm cork flooring laid. It’s fair to say, Susie and Michael are delighted!
