Gerard M Burns, renowned Scottish artist is bringing his stunning artwork to Glasgow’s West End.

In collaboration with The Alchemy Experiment on Byres Road, the exhibit will showcase Burn’s original artwork, watercolours and new sculptures. Works will be on exhibition from several of the artist’s collections – ‘Winter’, ‘Angel’ and ‘Mythology’ and will include work he has done in conjunction with Scottish Ballet.

Background

A graduate of GSoA, Burns pursued a teaching career in art, before immersing himself in painting full time. His client list and display are varied: from celebrity to politician, from the Scottish Parliament to The National Portrait Gallery.

Although Burns works on large scale canvases, the subject of his pieces are still intimate and familiar. He has used relatives, neighbours and friends as subjects, painting what is close to him. Burns himself notes ‘I am attempting to reclaim a more traditional approach to painting….my goal is realism, but it’s by increasingly abstract means that realism is attained.’

His exhibition space, The Alchemy Experiment will also be showcasing Burns Artwork at the Reveal arts exhibition at the SEC on the 19th – 21st May. The creative art space is at the forefront of championing emerging artists, but interspersing this with renowned, established artists like Burns.

This is a rare opportunity to view George M Burns artwork for a limited time. And with a coffee shop on site, a chance to take a moment to reflect on a master at work.
