Best Christmas Menus Glasgow

We’re extremely lucky in Glasgow that in the west end alone, there are so many incredible eateries to choose from. So much so that actually choosing where to dine can be quite overwhelming. Which ones are good? Which ones will let you down? I’m here to help! Each month, I’ll bring you my top five spots for a specific category or type of cuisine. Today we’re leaning right into Christmas and bringing you our five favourite festive menus available in the west end, from Italian to a traditional Turkey dinner.

JOIA ITALIAN RESTAURANT

If you’re looking for something different this Christmas, and if you love Italian, then Joia Italian Restaurant in Finnieston is the perfect spot for you. In the perfect spot to get you close to the city centre, west end and the OVO Hydro, their Christmas dinner menu starts at 2 courses for £26.95, or go all out with 3 courses for £29.95. Dishes include stunning produce like Flambé Argentinian red shrimp, or Perthshire venison meatballs to start, with a range of main dishes from pasta to risotto and pizza.

THE PRANCING STAG

We’re huge fans of The Prancing Stag here at Westender Magazine, so its no wonder we’re including them, especially when their Festive Menu starts from just £23 for lunch and £28 for dinner. The menu features all the classics, like prawn and crab cocktail, chicken and mushroom terrine, and more unique dishes like a venison and haggis Scotch egg with celeriac remoulade and pickled blackberries. If you can’t get enough of your turkey dinners, then their Free range Turkey Ballotine with sage and onion stuffing with traditional roast garnish is definitely going to hit the spot.

HOOLIGAN WINE BAR

Wine and small plates lovers need to get themselves along to Hooligan for their £40 set six course menu, with both meat and vegetarian options available. At Hooligan the chefs infuse local, seasonal ingredients with unique flavours and spices to add new dimensions to classic dishes. Their set festive menu starts off with Mi-cuit of salmon with a pistachio crumb, cranberry and whipped crème fraiche, followed with tandoor sprouts served with a coconut chutney, duck breast with leg pastilla and a fermented blackberry jus, and finishes with chestnut, cinnamon meringue, apple fool and calvados ice cream.

THE LOVEABLE ROGUE

I am a personal lover of The Loveable Rogue, particularly their Sunday roast, and I suspect I’ll be doing all I can to get along to sample their Christmas menu this year. Throughout December, enjoy a three course Christmas Lunch for £29.50 or a four course Christmas dinner for £39.95. My eyes are firmly on the braised and glazed shin of beef with truffle mash, king oyster mushroom and red wine sauce, not to mention the dark chocolate cremeux with blackberries, meringue and hazelnuts.

THE BUTCHERSHOP

Steak lovers should definitely get themselves along to the Butchershop for their festive meal, with it available Monday to Thursday from 12-3pm, or Sundays from 12-5pm. Enjoy two courses, including a 30 day dry aged rump steak, for just £34, or a three course meal for £40 during the week. On Sundays get your hands on their Festive Roast sirloin of Borders Beef, or upgrade to a 500g chateaubriand or a 1.2kg tomahawk.
