Scotland On Tour Programme

The pandemic had a brutal impact on so many industries, in particular decimating the Arts. The Scotland on Tour programme was created to support the return of live music to over 100 venues across Scotland. The initiative, managed by Active Events with a £750,000 backing from the Scottish Government, will see around 120 artists take part. The year long event will create opportunities for live music to be enjoyed throughout Scotland again – from small rural communities to towns and cities nationwide.

There should be something for everyone on the programme list. The Tour bill is eclectic to say the least; from bright new talent to experienced artists; from rock and pop to country, jazz and folk. There really doesn’t seem to be a musical genre not included.

Indeed, when Scotland on Tour lands at Cottiers Theatre this September, the star of the show couldn’t be a better representative to showcase the event. An Evening of Songs and Stories with James Grant, sees Love and Money’s former frontman playing in his hometown of Glasgow. The band recorded 4 classic albums in the 80s, written by James, with an ensuing string of hit singles. James has gone on to have a hugely successful solo career too, recording critically acclaimed albums and is regarded as one of the country’s finest singer-songwriters. His music blends many genres: pop, soul, country, folk to name but a few.  A gifted composer and lyricist, he is also an exceptionally talented guitarist. On playing in Glasgow, James said ‘Cottiers is a beautiful venue just round the corner from where I live, I’m very much looking forward to this show in September.’
