McCommitments Gig for Foodbank

Mccommitments gig for Glasgow NW Foodbank

Scottish tribute band The McCommitments announce charity performance to raise funds for Glasgow NW Foodbank.

On 11th May, Cottiers Theatre will play proud hosts to The McCommitments, a tribute band to the classic movie “The Commitments”. The event hopes to raise as much money as possible to support Glasgow NW Foodbank. Stevie Douglas, lead singer of the band said ‘We’re thrilled to bring this event to Glasgow and raise money for such an important cause’.

With such classics as ‘Try a Little Tenderness’, ‘Mustang Sally’ and ‘Take Me to the River’, it’s a showstopper of an evening and has its heart in the underlying theme of the movie. ‘The Commitments movie was about hope through music and raising aspirations,’ says Stevie. ‘Our group of 11 local musicians want to bring that spirit through the power of soul.’

And it couldn’t be for a better cause. Glasgow NW Foodbank provide 3 days nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people referred at times of crisis. Part of a national network of foodbanks, they work to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Foodbank volunteer Liz Glen said ‘This event will make a significant difference in our efforts to fight hunger in the community and provide much-needed assistance to those in need.’ The Team are hugely grateful to The McCommitments, to Cottiers Theatre and to those hoping to attend.

With tickets from just £12, this small amount collectively is sure to make a huge difference.
